Help with departures, stations, trip planning, and Live Activities

Getting started

  1. Search for your station from the home screen.
  2. Tap the star to follow a station — it'll show up on your Home tab with its next departures, colored by line.
  3. Tap into any station for the full list of upcoming departures, tracks, and active service alerts.
  4. Tap the circle-dot icon next to a station's name to start a Live Activity for it — its departures will keep updating right on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
  5. Use the Trips tab to plan a ride between two stations — pick your origin and destination and a date, and see every direct and one-transfer itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see my station?

Try searching by the station's full name rather than an abbreviation. If it's still missing, let us know using the contact link below and we'll look into it.

How do I follow or unfollow a station?

Tap the star icon at the top of any station's departure board to follow it. To unfollow, open the station again and tap the star a second time, or remove it from your Home tab.

Are the departure times live?

Yes — status, tracks, and service alerts come straight from NJ Transit and refresh automatically every 30 seconds. The full departures screen also supports pull-to-refresh if you want an update right away.

How do I track a station from my Lock Screen?

Tap the circle-dot icon next to a station's name, on Home or on its departures screen. A Live Activity starts showing that station's upcoming departures, and keeps itself updated in the background for up to two hours. Tap the icon again to stop it early.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

You'll need a connection to load live departures, since schedule and track data comes from the transit provider in real time. Your followed stations are saved on your device, so they'll still be there next time you're online.

How do I plan a trip?

Open the Trips tab, pick your origin and destination stations and a date, then tap Find Trips. You'll see every direct itinerary and any one-transfer options, ranked by departure time. Tap any result for the full stop-by-stop schedule.

What does Time & Ride Pro include?

Everyone gets a free taste of Live Activity tracking and trip search before needing to subscribe. Time & Ride Pro removes those limits: unlimited Live Activities and unlimited trip search, for $0.99/month or $5.99/year (the annual plan includes a 7-day free trial). Departures, favorites, and Lines browsing are free for everyone, no subscription required.

How do I manage or cancel my Time & Ride Pro subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple, not in the app directly: open Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions, or App Store → your account → Subscriptions, and select Time & Ride Pro.

I resubscribed or got a new device — how do I restore Time & Ride Pro?

Open the paywall (it appears automatically once you reach a free limit) and tap "Already subscribed? Restore purchases" near the bottom.

Is my data private?

Yes — Time & Ride doesn't collect personal information, location, or usage analytics. Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed with RevenueCat, which we cover specifically in the Subscriptions section of the Privacy Policy.

I found a bug — how do I report it?

Email us with a short description and, if possible, a screenshot. Mentioning your device model and iOS version helps us track it down faster.
