Time & Ride is built to show you train departures — nothing more. This page explains, in plain terms, what that means for your data.
The short version: Time & Ride does not collect, store, or share any information that identifies you personally. There's no account, and no analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name, email address, or location. The app doesn't use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services of any kind, so nothing about how you use the app is sent to us or to any third party for tracking purposes.
When you follow or star a station, that preference is saved locally on your device only. It's never transmitted to us and isn't linked to you in any way — if you delete the app, it's gone.
To show you departures, tracks, and service alerts, Time & Ride requests publicly available transit data for the station you're viewing, via our own server, which in turn queries NJ Transit's Rail Data API. This is a standard network request, similar to visiting any website, and doesn't include your name or any other personal details.
If you start a Live Activity — the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island departure tracker — your device generates a push token so our server can send it background updates. This token identifies that Live Activity session on your device, not you: it isn't linked to your identity, isn't shared with advertisers or data brokers, and isn't used for tracking. It's discarded once the session ends, at most two hours after you start it.
Time & Ride has no advertising, and we don't sell or share data with data brokers or advertisers — we don't have any personal data to sell in the first place.
Time & Ride is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age.
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. We'll only ever make it easier to understand what we do (and don't do) with your information.
